As she won her first fashion award, dressed in “wasabi-green” custom pieces from her namesake label, Rihanna’s look was “undeniably Fenty” and reflects where she “is currently in terms of her personal style,” mentioned her stylist and collaborator Jahleel Weaver.
It’s no secret that the bad-gal and Fenty beauty mogul colors outside the lines. There’s no box that can contain her, nor a boundary that she doesn’t cross.
Honing “a new way of approaching the evening gown,” the Love on the Brain singer layered a mini-dress with an oversized, sheer shirt and matching gloves. The jeweled harness of the dress alluded to that of a corset dress.
The color of the fabric breathed a certain atmosphere of feminine coolness, “a color that was introduced in Release 8-19” as “variations of pieces from Release 12.”
Using her time to shine to thank Bernard Arnault, the French business magnate behind the LVMH conglomerate that backs her brand, Rihanna said, “Thank you for believing in me, as a young, black woman, and my talent.” Accepting the award, she added, “thank you for giving me the opportunity to prove what I love to do.”
“For Fenty to be nominated at the Fashion Awards in the Urban Luxe category amongst amazing designers – after launching seven months ago – is a huge honour,” mused Weaver of how far they have come.
On December 6, fans of the brand may be able to shop a very close replica of RiRi’s entire look at Fenty.com.
