Martin may just be 15-years-old, but she is making quite a big name for herself in the industry. The powerhouse-in-the-making inked a first-look deal with the studio in February, becoming “the youngest person ever to do so for Universal.” Martin will now produce a comedy titled Queen through her Genius Production Banner, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Camila Blackett will pen and exec produce the script, while Joshua Martin, Carol Martin, and Prince Baggett will all share in co-producing the film. Overseeing the project for Universal will be Sara Scott, senior VP of production.
Martin, who you may remember as the breakout star from the ABC sitcom Black-ish, found success from her very first film. She also executive produced Little, which ultimately grossed over $40.6 million at the domestic box office. Martin starred in the movie beside Insecure’s Issa Rae and Girls Trip’s Regina Hall.
Strutting further down the path to becoming a force in the movie industry, Martin’s name is also attached to produce Amari and the Night Brothers, along with Mandeville Films and Don Cheadle, for Universal.
For now, Queen’s plot and other details are being kept under wraps. No production or release dates have been announced.
